How listings are ranked
On every category and city page, listings appear in this order:
- Owner-confirmed listings first. The owner confirmed the listing through a company email address or the company website.
- Then licensed ones. The business holds a current, active state contractor license in the public licensee file.
- Then the most complete. A description, services, phone, website check, service area and hours each add to the completeness score.
- Then by name.
What does not change the order
- Money. Places are never sold and there are no sponsored results.
- Links. Links to a business’s website are never sold; owner-confirmed listings whose website passed our check get a normal link, the rest are marked nofollow.
Other cities
An owner can list the cities the business serves; the listing then also appears on those cities’ pages, marked “Based in … · serves …”.
